Chandigarh Traffic Update: Chandigarh will witness a significant traffic change over the next few weeks as the administration begins re-carpeting work on a key stretch of the city. The Chandigarh Traffic Police has announced that the road between Junction No. 38 and Junction No. 43 will remain closed for vehicular movement from 26 November 2025 to 15 December 2025.

According to the advisory, the affected stretch—from Tribune Chowk towards Centra Mall Light Point—will stay shut between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM every day during the maintenance period. The work is part of the city’s ongoing effort to improve road quality and ensure smoother movement for commuters in the long run.
Police Urge Commuters to Follow Diversions
The Chandigarh Police has appealed to residents and daily commuters to plan their travel accordingly. With the temporary closure expected to impact peak-hour traffic, authorities have suggested using alternative routes to avoid congestion.
Officials assured that traffic personnel will remain deployed throughout the route to guide motorists and manage movement efficiently. “Traffic Police is on the job. We request citizens to keep patience and cooperate during the maintenance work,” the department said in its advisory.
Efforts to Minimize Public Inconvenience
While the closure may cause delays, the police emphasized that the re-carpeting work is essential for improving driving conditions. The authorities expressed regret for the inconvenience caused but reassured that all possible steps are being taken to minimize disruption.
Residents have welcomed the move, noting that the stretch has been in need of repair for some time. With Chandigarh known for maintaining high road standards, the upcoming improvements are expected to make travel smoother once the project is completed.
What Commuters Should Keep in Mind

- Allow extra travel time for daily commutes

Chandigarh continues to prioritize road safety and infrastructure improvements. The administration hopes that public cooperation will ensure the work is completed smoothly and within the scheduled timeline.
