Punjab DGP Holds Emergency Meeting

Soon after reports of the Red Fort blast surfaced, Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav convened an emergency virtual meeting with senior officers, including SSPs, Commissioners of Police (CPs), and Range DIGs. The high-level meeting focused on assessing the current security environment, ensuring real-time intelligence sharing, and deploying rapid-response mechanisms across key districts.

Senior officials from the Counter Intelligence and Intelligence Wings were also part of the meeting, where directives were issued to fortify critical installations, crowded public spaces, and sensitive locations such as bus stands, railway stations, and government offices.

Night Domination and Vehicle Checks Intensified

In line with the state’s enhanced security protocol, police have launched extensive “Night Domination Operations,” involving intensified patrolling in both urban and rural belts after dark. Special checkpoints have been established at major highways, border points, and key junctions. Random inspections of vehicles have been ramped up to intercept any suspicious movements.

Officials confirmed that districts adjoining Delhi, including Pathankot, Amritsar, and Jalandhar, have received additional security reinforcements. Quick Response Teams (QRTs) remain on standby to deal with any emergency situation.

Checks at Hotels, Guest Houses, and Sarais

Police teams have also begun surprise inspections at hotels, guest houses, and traditional sarais (inns) across Punjab and Chandigarh. Guest records and identification documents are being verified to ensure no suspicious individuals are hiding in the area.

Authorities emphasized that while there is no confirmed threat to Punjab or Chandigarh at the moment, preventive measures are being taken to ensure public safety and maintain law and order.

Chandigarh Police Heighten Vigilance

In Chandigarh, security has been tightened at entry and exit points, with police conducting thorough checks of incoming vehicles. Key government buildings, marketplaces, and public venues have come under close watch. Senior police officials are monitoring the situation in coordination with Delhi and Punjab counterparts.

A senior Chandigarh Police officer stated, “We are maintaining a high state of alert and closely tracking intelligence inputs. The focus is on preventive action rather than reactive measures.”

Coordination Between States Crucial

Officials say that coordination between Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh Police has been enhanced to ensure seamless information exchange. Law enforcement agencies have been advised to stay vigilant and act promptly on any tip-off related to suspicious activities.

This coordinated state-wide alert underscores the region’s proactive approach to security management in the aftermath of the Delhi blast. While investigations continue in the national capital, Punjab and Chandigarh authorities remain on edge — determined to prevent any breach of peace or safety.
