Jaipur, Rajasthan | November 3, 2025 — What began as a regular afternoon on Jaipur’s Harmada road turned into a scene of devastation when a speeding dumper truck ploughed into a line of vehicles, killing at least 15 people and leaving 10 others injured in one of the city’s deadliest road accidents in recent years.

The Horror Unfolds on a Busy Road
Eyewitnesses described the incident as “nothing short of a massacre.” Around 3 PM, a dumper truck barreled down a 300-meter stretch near Loha Mandi, smashing into cars, motorbikes, and pedestrians before finally colliding with a trailer truck on the Delhi-Ajmer Highway.
Bodies lay scattered across the road, mangled cars lined the stretch, and crushed motorcycles bore witness to the scale of the tragedy. Locals rushed to pull victims from wreckage as chaos and screams filled the air.
CCTV Footage Reveals Reckless Driving
Preliminary investigation suggests that the dumper was being driven recklessly at over 100 kmph. CCTV footage captured the truck speeding uncontrollably, hitting vehicles in rapid succession.
According to Additional Police Commissioner Rajiv Pachar, the driver appeared to have lost control and was possibly under the influence of alcohol. “Since the accused driver is injured, his medical examination will confirm the cause, but the nature of the accident indicates intoxication or a medical emergency,” he said.
Locals managed to chase down and apprehend the driver before handing him over to police.
Heartbreaking Losses and Survivors’ Stories
Among the victims were Mahendra (38), a weaver from Bainad Road, and his nieces Varsha (19) and Bhanu (5). They were on their way to Sikar after celebrating Diwali in Jaipur. While Varsha is battling for life at the SMS Hospital trauma centre, Mahendra and Bhanu succumbed to their injuries.
In another car, a family from Agra sustained severe injuries. “Our car was parked on the roadside when the dumper rammed it from behind. All five of us were hurt,” said Nanji Bhai, one of the survivors.
Officials React and Rescue Operations Launched
District Collector Jitendra Soni confirmed that 14 people died and 10 were injured in the collision. The injured were rushed to SMS Hospital, where several remain in critical condition.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, along with his deputies Diya Kumari and Premchand Bairwa, expressed deep sorrow.
“The accident in Lohamandi area is extremely tragic. I have instructed officials to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured,” Sharma posted on X.
Former CM Ashok Gehlot also offered condolences to the families affected.
Public Anger and Renewed Demand for Road Safety
Soon after the accident, hundreds of locals gathered at the site, protesting against reckless driving and lax enforcement of road safety laws. Many demanded stricter penalties for drunk and rash driving, calling the tragedy “a failure of system monitoring.”
The Jaipur Police later confirmed that the dumper driver has been booked under Sections 304A and 279 of the IPC for causing death by negligence and rash driving.
This accident comes just a day after another major crash in Phalodi, Rajasthan, where 15 people lost their lives when a tempo traveller hit a stationary trailer — highlighting the state’s growing road safety crisis.
