4 Naxalites Killed in anti-Naxal operation in Bastar of Chhattisgarh

Bastar, Chhattisgarh: In one of the major anti-Naxal operations, one DRG jawan was killed and four Naxalites were gunned down in a fierce encounter with the ultras in the thick forests of South Abujhmad on the border of Narayanpur and Dantewada districts. The operation also resulted in the recovery of a number of sophisticated weapons, such as an AK-47 rifle and a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR).

The encounter began on Saturday night when a joint team of forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bastar districts launched the operation based on inputs that Naxals were spotted in the region. The security forces, including DRG and STF personnel, had to cross rivers and streams to reach the Naxals deep inside the jungle.

Opening firing on sighting of security forces and a fierce battle ensued with full firepower, which would continue to boom intermittently, throughout the entire night. Naxalite DRG head constable, Sannu Karm during the operation received fatal injuries battling valiantly.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Prabhat Kumar of Narayanpur district confirmed that the bodies of four Naxalites were recovered after the encounter subsided. Alongside the bodies, the forces seized several weapons, adding to the operation’s success. Multi-District Effort

Inspector General (IG) of Bastar, P. Sundarraj, said the operation involved teams from multiple districts and was still going on as of Sunday morning. “Teams from DRG and STF from four districts are participating in this critical mission to dismantle Naxal strongholds in the region,” he said.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of security forces to counter Naxal insurgency in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region, a known stronghold of left-wing extremism.

The martyred soldier, Head Constable Sannu Karm, has been hailed as a hero who laid down his life in the line of duty. Tributes poured in from officials and the community, acknowledging his supreme sacrifice.

The encounter yet again marks yet another chapter of relentless fight against Naxalism, as security forces look to take the region of peace at almost all costs.
